What happened

• C-Track Canada found unauthorized activity on 30 Jun 2026; an unauthorized party had obtained certain files in March 2026 from systems serving the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Justice. A subset of court records with names and personal information was involved, and for some courts “confidential, redacted, or sealed information may also have been impacted”.
• Root cause: compromise of the vendor environment; the notice says the courts’ own systems were not the cause. Method not disclosed.
• Attacker: not identified.
• Response: third-party experts and law enforcement, containment, 12 months of TransUnion monitoring.
