CVE-2026-33024: AVideo-Encoder has Unauthenticated Blind Server-Side Request Forgery via Public Thumbnail Generator
Advisory generated from the CVE record, CISA, Exploit Observer and VEDAS: what it is, whether it is exploited, who is affected, and how to fix and detect it.
Generated by VEDAS. Scores as of 2026-11-01 19:19 UTC. Rebuilt every few hours from cve-scores, CISA KEV and vedas-signatures. How this works and its limits.
What it is
AVideo is a video-sharing Platform. Versions prior to 8.0 contain a Server-Side Request Forgery vulnerability (CWE-918) in the public thumbnail endpoints getImage.php and getImageMP4.php. Both endpoints accept a base64Url GET parameter, base64-decode it, and pass the resulting URL to ffmpeg as an input source without any authentication requirement. The prior validation only checked that the URL was syntactically valid (FILTER_VALIDATE_URL) and started with http(s)://. This is insufficient: an attacker can supply URLs such as http://169.254.169.254/latest/meta-data/ (AWS/cloud instance metadata), http://192.168.x.x/, or http://127.0.0.1/ to make the server reach internal network resources. The response is not directly returned (blind), but timing differences and error logs can be used to infer results. The issue has been fixed in version 8.0.
Description quoted from the CVE record (assigned by GitHub_M, published 2026-03-20).
Weakness: CWE-918: Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF)
How it can be exploited
Exploitable over the network with low attack complexity with no special attack requirements needing no privileges and no user interaction. Impact: confidentiality high, integrity high, availability none. CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N
CISA assessment (SSVC): CISA has no evidence of exploitation. Automatable: yes. Technical impact: total.

How to detect it
Nuclei template (active check)
AVideo Encoder - Unauthenticated Server-Side Request Forgery
AVideo Encoder before 8.0 exposes the public thumbnail endpoints getImage.php and getImageMP4.php without authentication. Both accept a base64Url GET parameter, base64-decode it, and pass the resulting URL to ffmpeg as an input source. The prior validation only confirmed the decoded value was a syntactically valid http(s) URL, so an unauthenticated attacker can supply a URL pointing at internal or external hosts and make the Encoder issue server-side requests to it (SSRF). This template base64-encodes a unique out-of-band collaborator URL, submits it to the thumbnail endpoints, and confirms the vulnerability when the Encoder performs the resulting DNS/HTTP request to that collaborator.
Name and description quoted from the template, written by VEDAS.
The template sends 3 requests (GET /getImage.php?base64Url={{base64(, GET /getImageMP4.php?base64Url={{base64(, GET /Encoder/getImage.php?base64Url={{base64(); it confirms through an out-of-band callback (interactsh), so the scanner must be able to receive it; it decides using word matchers. Severity in the template: critical. Marked as not yet verified against a live vulnerable target.
Run it against a host you own or are authorised to test:
