What happened
- Hana Bank disclosed on 2 Oct that personal information of 89 customers, including resident registration numbers, names, addresses, emails, phone numbers and workplace names, leaked from its sales support system (ODS) after “external hackers attempted abnormal access” (DigitalToday).
- Root cause: not disclosed beyond abnormal external access; JoongAng Daily reports 28 IP addresses in the US, Japan and 10 other countries presumed used for AI agent-backed hacking across the bank attacks.
- No attacker named.
- Hana blocked related IPs, reported to regulators, formed an emergency task force, is notifying customers and pledged full compensation.
