What happened
- Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu told the Rajya Sabha (written reply) that “some flights reported ... GPS spoofing in the vicinity of Indira Gandhi International Airport” while using GPS-based landing procedures on Runway 10; contingency procedures were applied and other runway ends were unaffected because conventional navaids were available. Kolkata, Amritsar, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai have also reported GNSS interference (News On AIR).
- Root cause: radio-frequency spoofing of GNSS signals; source not identified.
- Attacker: not identified; reports attributing the Nov 2025 Delhi disruption to a “cyberattack” are unconfirmed.
- Response: DGCA SOP (November 2025) for real-time reporting of spoofing near IGI; Wireless Monitoring Organisation asked to locate the source; conventional navigation kept as a minimum operating network.
